The Window at Night

Things the moon heard before anyone else did.

01The Window

When I was young, I used to sit beside the window and watch the night become larger than the room. I never knew what I was waiting for. Only that somewhere beyond the glass, the world seemed wide enough to hold the person I could not yet become.

The Window at Night

02Moonlight

The moon never asked why I was quiet. It never wondered why I stayed so long. Maybe that is why I trusted it before I learned how to trust people.

The Window at Night

03Weather

Give me a full moon behind heavy clouds. Rain against the glass. Wind loud enough to move the trees. I have always found it strange that the more restless the sky becomes, the quieter I feel inside.

04The Night Knew

There were years when no one knew what I loved. But the night did. It knew every song I replayed, every place I imagined, every life I quietly wished for. Maybe that was enough back then.

The Window at Night

05Before I Had Words

I think I learned how to be alone before I learned how to explain loneliness. So I sat near windows. I watched rain. I memorized the moon. And somehow, that became a language.

06The First Place

Maybe I loved the night because it was the first place that never asked me to explain who I was.

The Window at Night

07Quiet Witness

Some memories do not contain another person. Only a room, a window, and the moon outside. And yet, somehow, they are the memories in which I felt least alone.

You only wanted somewhere you could exist without being afraid of being seen.
